Stainless Steel 304L welded pipe is a chromium–nickel stainless steel pipe produced to ASTM A312 / ASME SA-312 (Grade TP304L) with the UNS designation S30403. It contains about 18-20% chromium and 8-12% nickel, with very low carbon (maximum 0.030%). This low carbon content is the key feature of 304L, because it prevents chromium carbide from forming during welding and helps avoid intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone. SS 304L welded pipe provides a minimum tensile strength of 485 MPa (70 ksi) and a minimum yield strength of 170 MPa (25 ksi), with at least 35% elongation.
